Artist's Description

Part of the World War II Memorial in Washington, DC, the Freedom Wall gives some vision to the number of service men and women who fought and died for our country during World War II. 4,048 stars each symbolize 100 lives. That was almost 3.5% of the US population in 1945. An inscription at the edge of the reflecting pool reads "Here we mark the price of freedom."
