A whimsical montage, blending an autumn sunset in Chincoteague, Virginia and a wood and thread sculpture of a sailboat.
A friend met the disabled veteran who created the sailboat at a sidewalk fair near Santa Clara, CA, and purchased this sailboat. I fell in love with it when I visited David and his wife last spring. I immediately had a vision - and a title. It's taken almost a year to make that vision reality.
Hopefully, David has contact information for this man. I plan to order a print (perhaps on wood?) for him and would love to meet him when I visit this spring.
A photograph is visual emotion, running the gamut from stark images of horror—to ‘snapshots in time’ commemorating special moments—to pieces that draw you into their world as if they were magnetized. These are the photographs that evoke a gasp, a “WOW!” or an “awwwww.” I consider myself a visual historian. Whether taking photographs of you and your horse, an old barn, or a misty sunrise, I am preserving history. Not just for you, or that barn, or that sunrise - but for the memories each regenerates in others. Seeing (or hearing about) their reactions as they relive an experience or emotion—whether remembered or vicarious—makes my spirit sing.
