Artist's Description
Land of Medicine Buddha in Aptos/Santa Cruz, CA is one of the most serene places on earth. Acres of redwoods and flowers - walking/hiking trails - with the silence only broken by birds, the occasional ringing of a prayer bell, or the sound of chanting.
This Buddha in Meditation is depicted with both hands in the lap, face up, legs crossed in a Single Lotus pose, with an alms bowl is placed in his lap.
This statue often represents focused concentration, with the eyes of the Buddha halfway or nearly all the way closed. The basic triangular shape of the statue represents stability.
People who seek peace and calm in their lives, or those who wish to improve their meditation skills often include a Meditation Buddha in a quiet corner where they can sit in calm for a little while and unwind.
This piece and Medicine Buddha with Offerings would make a lovely pair of prints.

Seeing (or hearing about) their reactions as they relive an experience or emotion—whether remembered or vicarious—makes my spirit sing. I research and provide background information if such is appropriate for a...
