Description
Halcyon Hall, outside Millbrook, NY, was the home of Bennett College. This lovely building has been allowed to fall into this shape. Just last year, it began to cave in and security fence was erected. I wish I'd gone down the year before.

Thank you, Hartmut. I have driven past it more recently and it is in even worse shape. Disrespectful that the town and owners can't take it down. Many of the students who spent happy years there are heartbroken to see it in this shape.

A great photo of a time long since gone. Makes me wonder what became of all the people and there hopes and dreams who have been there to study and to live. ..

Thank you all so much. Many young ladies in the area attended either boarding school or college in this building - heartbreaking to see it just fall apart. No respect!

A great image - sad to see such a beautiful structure start to fade away. Marvelous in black and white!

What a stunning work of architecture in its time. A shame it is not being maintained. Black and white is perfect for this image and adds a haunting feel!

The house looks as if it's full of mystery wonder whats inside. Stunning black and white picture.

Awesome capture! I see structures like this go to rack and ruin here in the mountains, such a pity!

Oh Carol, could you imagine the sights and captures from the inside of this fabulous building? I love the dark side of life. Love it!

Great capture of Halcyon Hall I used to pass this place every Saturday going to my mom's house, my kids walked through it one night, it was very haunted...l/t

Thank you, Linda. I'm so annoyed at myself for not having gone down a year or so earlier - would have loved to get inside - but not in its current condition.
