A teenage girl competes in an evening saddle seat equitation championship class. Why didn't I just say 'this kid is riding in a horse show'? Because the complete description explains her attire.
How do I know it's a saddle seat class? Because of the rider's position - very straight back and elevated hands (also because of the saddle and bridle).
How do I know that it is an evening championship class? Because evening classes are more formal than daytime classes, and a championship class is a 'black tie affair'; a black tuxedo suit with a formal white shirt is the norm. Back in the day, a rider was only permitted to wear white gloves when he or she was given them by the trainer. White gloves make your hands very visible, so if you were unable to keep them (what appears to be) absolutely still, you wore dark gloves.
