Artist's Description

After harvest, Rockbridge Vineyard in Raphine, VA leaves a few unpicked grapes for resident birds - and to add 'atmosphere' for guests as they drive in for a wine tasting or winery tour.

Shepherd Rouse, winemaker, holds a Master’s Degree in Enology from the University of California at Davis. After working in vineyards in Germany, California, and Virginia, he and his wife, Jane, felt they found a perfect site for their own vineyard in northern Rockbridge County.

From the 17 acres of their own grapes, along with some purchased from top-quality growers in neighboring counties, Shep's winemaking style of traditional small batch methods with minimal processing captures the essence of the vineyard in the glass. The result is well-crafted, affordable wines which have won numerous medals over the years.

I research and provide background information if such is appropriate for a...
