Buttermilk Falls adds interest to a small Adirondack stream that flows from Forked Lake to Long Lake. This image, taken with a moderate depth of field and very slow shutter, gives the water a frothy, silky texture. Even though your mind knows the water is moving fast and furious, it hears a smooth string and woodwind melody rather than harsh percussion.
Its companion piece, Buttermilk Froth Bubbles, is almost identical, with a shallower depth of field and a fast shutter speed - the percussion rules.
